Friday Morning FYI – 7/3/2015

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI – I’m-on-the-other-side-of-the-planet-and-have-no-idea-when-this-will-go-live-Part-2 edition! – my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI is about the strangeness of duality:

When someone else hates something you love, that thing can be considered bad and good at the same time. If it’s a problem for you two (or even just one of you), you need to uncover which it really is, thereby figuring-out who’s right (not that being right is the important thing). There can be no compromise on this, so don’t go nuts looking for one. Just figure it out and go from there.

Thanks for reading,

  1. Or, we can consider that our differences propel us forward and that it really doesn’t matter who is right and who is wrong. I am not saying that murder is good, or whatever, only that when we experience things that we think are wrong we hone what WE want, and then we can give our complete power to the change we hope to see in the world.

  2. Hi Amy,

I’m not talking about differences. Differences should be celebrated (unless they’re the, “You’re a cannibal and I’m not,” kind). I’m talking about something that divides two people foundationally, hence my use of “hate”. Like if someone smokes and a potential partner can’t stand smoking. In a situation like that, where the smoker wants to keep on smoking and the non-smoker wants them to stop, compromise is most-likely not going to happen, and it would be a waste of both energy and sanity to try.

    Thx for commenting 🙂
