Just playing with a word

Sometimes I like to play with a word, seeing if I can create something from it that has some meaning for me. It’s not an original idea, of course, but is fun. Fun for me, anyway. And sometimes cathartic (like this time).

Here’s one of those short little things I wrote, oh, maybe a month ago. It’s a simple one – you won’t need a cypher to see the pattern 🙂

Catacombed
As all the rest
Taken by surprise
And infected by fathomless eyes
Safe in armor
Tempted but not spent
Regretfully, in the closing hour
Orpheus “loudly singing the praises of the gods to his lyre”
Pulled by that force of nature, still
Home to the fields of lavender
Elegant yet raw, and unreachable.

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI – I’m-on-the-other-side-of-the-planet-and-have-no-idea-when-this-will-go-live-Part-3 (final) edition! – my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI is a short one about doing:

Life moves FAST. Keep up, or don’t be shocked you’re left behind.

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI – I’m-on-the-other-side-of-the-planet-and-have-no-idea-when-this-will-go-live-Part-2 edition! – my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI is about the strangeness of duality:

When someone else hates something you love, that thing can be considered bad and good at the same time. If it’s a problem for you two (or even just one of you), you need to uncover which it really is, thereby figuring-out who’s right (not that being right is the important thing). There can be no compromise on this, so don’t go nuts looking for one. Just figure it out and go from there.

Friday Morning FYI – 6/5/2015

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI, my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI is a little ranty, and about the words others put right in our earholes, but we don’t hear:

How often we ignore what others tell us about themselves. I’m not talking about body language, tone, or any of that. I mean the WORDS that come out of people’s mouths. We hear but don’t accept, and then react like we’ve been slighted – angrily casting blame. We paint Rockwellian pictures, script elaborate scenes and monologues, and erect statuesque pedestals – all outside of someone’s confessed reality – and then cry like children burned by touching a scolding oven we were warned was hot.

If a serpent tells you it bites, it goddamn bites. Don’t cuddle with it thinking it lied about biting, or just doesn’t know itself, or won’t bite YOU. Leave it the hell alone.

Friday Morning FYI – 5/22/2015

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI, my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI is all about being in tune:

Everything in the universe vibrates to a specific frequency, including you. Occasionally, you run into someone/something on the same frequency, and it’s calming and exciting at the same time – a harmony. Of course, that means you also spend time in disharmony with some people and things. What helps is taking a little time every day to make sure you’re in tune with yourself. How you do this (meditation/reading/a quiet walk/playing with a pet) is up to you.
