Friday Morning FYI – 7/24/2015

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI – my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI is about not-wasting the gifts the universe provides us:

A body laid down for the night in any state other than exhaustion has wasted part (or all) of that day’s unrecoverable harvest. What a shame. And for what? The conservation of energy given us to spend? Nigh-unidentifiable, and certainly unremarkable, “leisure” (it’s for good reason no one remembers periods of lost time-they are an insult to eternity)? Would it not have been better that something worth doing, or, heaven forbid, noting, been accomplished?

Run your tank to empty, let the night refill it, and wake every day welcoming new possibilities.

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI – I’m-back-on-home-soil-‘MERICA edition! – my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI was going to be really good. Unfortunately, it presented itself to me a 3AM one night, and I committed one of the cardinal sins of writing: “I don’t need to write it down, I’ll remember!” So, for the first time, I’m just going to drop a quote here. Lazy? Sure. But it’s from ‘Walden’, so just read it and think about it. Hopefully that other one will come back to me at some point…

To him whose elastic and vigorous thought keeps pace with the sun, the day is a perpetual morning.

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI – I’m-on-the-other-side-of-the-planet-and-have-no-idea-when-this-will-go-live-Part-3 (final) edition! – my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI is a short one about doing:

Life moves FAST. Keep up, or don’t be shocked you’re left behind.

Welcome to your Friday Morning FYI – I’m-on-the-other-side-of-the-planet-and-have-no-idea-when-this-will-go-live-Part-2 edition! – my chance to share observations/wisdom/rants in short, easily consumed form.

This week’s FYI is about the strangeness of duality:

When someone else hates something you love, that thing can be considered bad and good at the same time. If it’s a problem for you two (or even just one of you), you need to uncover which it really is, thereby figuring-out who’s right (not that being right is the important thing). There can be no compromise on this, so don’t go nuts looking for one. Just figure it out and go from there.

Where am I?

Temporary roommates still asleep in their rooms, I can’t get up and out because I have no key to get back in. Need to wait for them to get up to sort that out. MEANWHILE, the thoughts doth run!

——————————————

It’s a Saturday, and I’m on the other side of the world…

… Not in the coffee shop, gently handed a tea.
Not by the fireplace, the perfect spot for me.
Not hammering away at my new book,
Not having laughter distract me from work.
Not looking out on the slow river low,
Not knowing whether to stay or to go.

It’s a Saturday, and I’m on the other side of the world…

… In a small room, typing away.
Sheltered from the heat of the day.
Soon I’ll emerge, and go and explore
In part to escape the snoring next door.
And to distract from where I might be
Jealous about a trip to the trees.

It’s a Saturday, and I’m on the other side of the world…

… Planning the train route to go and view art
While wondering about my greater part,
My focus blurred by the echoes of steps
And the fall’s howl, stuck hard in my head.
Lingering visions of lavender and peach
Within arms length, but just out of reach.

It’s a Saturday, and I’m on the other side of the world.
